Neve Tzedek – a Choice Destination for Families

Neve Tzedek

Neve Tzedek, “the Oasis of Justice,” offers inhabitants exactly that — an oasis of peace and a respite from the hubbub of its neighboring Tel Aviv. Neve Tzedek is of course a renowned tourist attraction with its stylish stores, designer boutiques, chic restaurants, art galleries, craft stores, and unbelievable architecture. However, its exclusive and quiet atmosphere also make it the ideal neighborhood for families enjoy a superior lifestyle.

While the Neve Tzedek attracts many tourists, it is also quiet and amazingly atmospheric. The properties offered for renting or buying in the area are of an extremely high-quality. There is something for every taste whether you’re seeking an ultra-modern, extravagant flat with beautiful views, contemporary design, and clean lines or a strikingly renovated house that pays tribute to the area’s opulent history.

For families coming from overseas, a major drawcard is the French International School, The Collège Français Marc Chagall de Tel-Aviv, located in Neve Zedek. The school offers Israeli children and those of other nationalities a high level of education, which is communicated in French. Other educational solutions nearby are the Collège des Frères de Jaffa, and the Tabeetha English-medium primary and secondary school where  everything is taught in English, except for foreign languages, including Arabic, French, Hebrew, Russian, and Spanish.

Alternatively, you can send your child to a regular Israeli school in or near the area. While kids pick up languages quickly, parents take longer and those who wish to brush up on their Hebrew skills or study the language, Ulpan 7 Lindenblum is a stone’s throw away.

As far as culture is concerned, there is much to offer. On Shabazi 22 one can find the Neve Tzedek Community Centre where locals of all ages — from youth, to adults, children and new olim — will discover a diverse range of cultural and community events and activities. Here you can indulge at the a wonderful café; roam communal gardens; take up cooking classes; send your kids to activities during the holidays; attend Hebrew Book week, lectures or white night events; enjoy the annual year-end festivities; observe the customary Memorial Day and Earth Day; and much more.

The neighborhood is also home to the Neve Schechter Legacy Heritage Center for Jewish Culture, which is a focal point for Israeli artists and intellectuals seeking to participate in Hebrew culture and Jewish thought. The center’s Jewish cultural and educational programs are an attraction for hundreds of Tel Aviv residents of all ages. There is everything from art workshops to story time for kids, theatre, and a great playground where parents can enjoy quality time with their children.

Last, but not least, Neve Tzedek is within walking distance from Tel Aviv’s breathtaking beaches, and if after having the family over the weekend has left you a tad exhausted, a visit to Neve Tzedek’s Spa for some indulgent, healing and relaxing ancient therapies will soon have you ready for the week ahead!
